    THE FACES OF PREK TOAL

    THE PROJECT:

In 2013, I founded the Faces of Prek Toal organization in order to raise funds to rebuild the Prek Toal Floating Primary school in Cambodia.

I designed and created all digital aspects including the Help The Floating School Website, Fundraising site, and social media.

I also produced and composed a promotional video in order to raise awareness of the school's needs.

In 2014, I self-published the documentary photo book, "The Faces Of Prek Toal," a 35 page hardcover book. All proceeds are donated to the Prek Toal floating school.

    THE BACKGROUND:

The Prek Toal Primary school floats entirely on water as it was built in the Prek Toal Floating Village on The Tonle Sap. The Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia and is home to unique floating villages, where homes, schools and gardens are designed to float in order to accommodate the changing water levels. While the Cambodians that live on the rivers are able to catch enough food to survive, access to basic services is limited and schools lack basic materials to support children’s education. Due to a lack of resources and minimum government funding for schools in Cambodia, there is a shortage of teaching materials and school facilities. The funding is often insufficient for even the school's most basic needs, leaving teachers to buy items like chalk with their personal money. The Prek Toal Primary school is sinking and without this school 160 children will be without education. The Faces of Prek Toal fund was created to benefit and raise funds for the teachers and students of the school.
